A list of standard tasks—some required, some optional—for creating a website.

Assemble Content
- Receive text and images from the client.
- Edit text: low-level copy edit, mid-level grammar and sentence
structure, high-level change of emphasis, structural rearrangement, or rewriting from notes.
- Process graphics: crop, balance, brightness, contrast, data
compression.
- Automated conversion and document processing, if needed. For example,
if you have a collection of documents in Word format that you want to put online, we can set
up automated routines that convert these documents into web format.
Build Website Structure
- Research possible domain names (such as MyWebsite.com), talk with you
about suitable choices, then acquire and point your new web address to your website.
- Develop website structure and navigation.
- Set up formatting stylesheets.
- Attach standard scripting modules.
- Develop custom graphics elements and scripted effects.
- Implement other technologies, such as database interface, forms
processing, automated content updating, Office templates for client-contributed web pages.
- Install e-commerce features, such as setting up PayPal.
Integrate Content and Formats
- Integrate content, structure, and formats.
- Upload successive versions, review, correct until done.
- For hosted sites, grant email accounts.
Website Maintenance
- Issue new email accounts as needed.
- Add links to your links page.
- Update information or place new graphics.
- If desired, we can set up a system so that you can create
web-formatted content that can be uploaded at minimum cost.
Promotion and Search Engine Optimization
- Site-internal specifics: META keyword and description fields,
robots.txt file, use of search keywords in page text, etc.
- Submission to standard search engines and directories.
- Advice on marketing: link trading, banner exchange, updated content,
paid link listing, etc.
